Serious Problem,Neuro Symptoms/Electrolytes need Help

Post a new topicby IndigoGal on Fri Mar 07, 2008 4:44 am

I know this forum isn't too busy, but I need some help. I am good at helping and giving advice on some things but I cannot seem to get the help or care I need. I have been suffering for over two years now from muscle cramping, twitching, weakness, dizziness falls, thirst, frequent urination, tremor, and I really cannot take it anymore. I don't even want to live like this anymore. I got a new doctor, and decided about 4 days prior to start taking magnesium and potassium supplements because I have had low levels a few times in the past. I have high blood pressure that goes up and down, but seems to still not be under control despite being on medication. It is not terribly high, but my retinas show damage (not serious), but the eye doctor said there was damage. My eyes are terribly dry. I crave salt all the time. I am so thirsty lately, and things have been getting harder. I feel a little better on supplements, but I don't know what I am doing. I don't know where to go to get the care I need. My neurologist tested me for any Neuro type problem and aside from inner ear issues, there is nothing as far as I know in that arena causing this. I am very scared. I have had a few episodes where I could not move my hand (paralysis?). There have been days I have been too weak to get up. Last week I was shaking and tremoring so bad and weak my husband had to pour my orange juice for me. I am doing slightly better now. I really think there is something seriously wrong. My doctor just ran electrolytes yesterday but since I have been forcing myself to drink more liquid than normal and taking higher amounts of mag and K if there is something wrong, it may not show. But, I am feeling so dehydrated. Having twitches, and get tired so easy. I just want to cry. I don't know where to go. I am hoping someone will respond, but I am resigned to giving up on this.
Also, dealing with burning red feet at times. Extreme lower trunk sweating at night for a couple weeks. I am borderline diabetic, but my sugar levels have been fine. I am sorry this is so long, but I am so frustrated and scared. Thanks in advance if anyone can help.
Peace

First of all I am a layman that is interested in health issues. My wife used to take care of terminally ill patients and demonstrates a lot of common sense dealing with her patients and with me :)

I don't know where you live....city our the suburbs or the country....but I would test your water for minerals, toxcins, high blood pressure medicine, pain medicine, birth control medicine, antibiotics, lithium, anti-depressants...you get the drill. And go through an independent lab. One reason for this that when people pass away in their homes or hospices...all their meds are flushed down the toilets or washed down sinks and most water sewage plants are incapable of filtering out these drugs. Where I live the Fire Department repeatedly is taking bottled water off the shelves forcing certain companies to further filter their product.

I would suggest a brain mri with dye along with a nerve test and subliminal discs addressing whatever a psych eval would reveal. Not saying you have mental problems but meditation and these discs are very production for certain problems.

A few Medical Schools are now referring to a new study called Environmental Disorders and studies involving this were first brought to the medical communities attention in the earlier 60's. Even now one can mention DES babies to a Doctor and he has now clue.

What I told you may be a bunch of whooey...but good luck but worthwhile checking out.

Will try to track your progress.

You might have them check your body for levels of heavy metals (lead, mercury, etc...) We ingest them with other foods and over time they can build up to toxic or subtoxic levels mimicking all sorts of symptoms, and neuro symptoms are quite frequent. If they are elevated you can use chelation therapies to decrease them.

I agree with the above mentioned post. The treatment is safe if they do find you do have heavy metals. However, if heavy metals (materials) are present I also suspect there are other materials present. I had an interesting conversation tonight with an immunolgist (dang spelling) and he suggested a chromoshone study (spelling again...wife just had 2 discs replaced in her neck and been awhile since I slept...and going to be another all-nighter). He stated you can trace neurological and other disorders through specific studies and tests. All heavy metals or materials or toxins will attach to certain cells. I did this a lot to find specific antibiotics when in Canada on Red Deer River and had to sort out certain strains of bacteria that were unique to the area (cattle). Finding one for human medicine is a trick. They typically are in research and are not in general practice and if they are no one uses them except elite clinics. What I suggest...at some point if you feel comfortable with it...is seek out an internist who can write a pro-bono request to one of these many clinics and getting the ball rolling. There are other researchers that can do the same thing but they are not open to public requests sadly.

Actually, what you are experiencing is very consistent with a disorder called Addison's disease but it must be differentiated from Cushing's disease. Go to your primary care doctor and request some blood work like serum ACTH and 24 hour urine free cortisol tests. Best of luck!

Thank You Paana. I appreciate your post. I have been in the ER three times this week with Dehydration but they just kept sending me home because my regular bloodwork was fine. But I was dehydrated. Guess it didn't matter much. I will request this of my kidney doctor when I see him the 10th. Thank you.
God bless
