Hypnotherapy

Hypnotherapy and "Acne"!! How is it actually possible to treat severe, life long acne when all the Dermatologists I've visited over the years claim that it is a condition caused by the imbalance of certain hormones and that this condition for the most part is very difficult to treat? I have been put on at least four different kinds of birth control pills to try and restore the hormonal imbalance, but even if I get short term relief of say 2-3 mos. it always comes back. I am now a 38 year old single woman who is still struggling with adult acne and nothing seems to help in the long-term. Can you tell me if "hypnotherapy" could actually help someone like me?

Dear Ivanna,
During the hypnotic state, homeostatsis occurs, where the mind and body, in conjunction with the immune system, balance, stablalize, and rejuvenate. While in this state, proper suggestions given by a hypnotherapist, and with the acceptance from your mind, could have a very positive affect for you. Guided Imagery techniques could also be very affective for your condition. The mind/ body connection is a very powerful one. Seemingly miraculous responses can occur when the mind and body are in harmony. In hypnotherapy, we go for treating the symptoms first, however, sometimes it is necessary to get to "cause." Uncovering information through your own imagery could be extremely helpful for you. If you have not found someone to work with, try the book, GUIDED IMAGERY FOR SELF-HEALING, by Dr. Martin L. Rossman. Best Wishes for your speedy recovery.
